EMILEE NIMETZ is a spoken word poet, performance artist, playwright, blogger, actor, choreographer, dance instructor and ukulele enthusiast.
She is a graduate of Sheridan College’s prestigious Musical Theatre Performance Program and attended The Banff Centre for the Arts in the Spoken Word Writer’s Residency in 2014 under program director Tanya Evanson.
Emilee was Vancouver’s Individual Poetry Slam Champion in 2014 and a finalist in the Canadian Individual Poetry Slam in 2015. Her work as a poet has been featured on Button Poetry and Best of Button. She is the current Writer in Residence for the Dora Award Winning Bad Hats Theatre Company (Toronto).
Emilee’s poetry has taken her to stages across Canada and the US, and her work work as an actor includes notable productions such as: Pippin, Metamorphoses, (Theatre Sheridan), Judas in Godspell (IANA), world premiere Aleck Bell: Canada’s Pop Rock Musical (IANA), and Sally Bowles in Cabaret (Theatre Sheridan).
Emilee currently resides in Victoria, BC where she works as a poetry workshop facilitator, dance instructor, and choreographer. In her free time, Emilee enjoys dipping her toes into the magical waters of the Pacific Ocean while contemplating the great mysteries of life and love. She also enjoys eating snacks and watching Netflix.
